What the AI checks actually do
Three optional checks that read an order before it prints — a missing-detail check on the address, a translation, and a delivery fee check. What each writes, and what it costs.
They work and they are in use, but how they behave, what they cost in credits and which of them exist are all still changing. Expect this page to change with them.
None of this is required. Orders, printing, gift messages and the driver portal all work with every AI option switched off.
What the AI does is read an order before it prints and add a short note to the dispatch sheet, so the person packing or delivering it knows something they would otherwise have to work out.
The three checks
Address check looks for delivery details that appear incomplete — a missing floor, flat, unit, room or shop number. It raises the order for a person to look at. It never edits the address itself.
Address translation takes a delivery address written in another language and produces a version the person delivering can read.
Only the delivery address is translated. A note or instruction your customer left at checkout is printed exactly as they wrote it, in whatever language they wrote it in.
This catches people out because the two sit next to each other on the dispatch sheet, so a translated address beside an untranslated note looks like the translation half-failed. It did not — the note was never in scope.
Delivery fee check compares the shipping amount the customer actually paid against the region they are being delivered to, and warns when they do not match.
All three are available on every plan. Each check costs one AI credit per order it runs on, so what limits you is your monthly credit allowance rather than your plan.
Where the result appears
The results are combined into a single note that prints on the dispatch sheet. You can also see it on the order in the app.
Nothing is acted on automatically. The note is information for whoever is packing or delivering — the app does not change an address, cancel an order or alter a fee on the strength of it.
Turning them on
Go to Settings → AI & Automation. The AI note card holds a master switch over all of it, plus a switch per check.
The delivery fee check is allowed to find nothing wrong and write nothing. When that happens the check ran, it succeeded, and it printed nothing — which is exactly right for an order with no problem.
So a blank AI note is not evidence that anything failed. On a shop running only the fee check, most orders should be blank.
The freshness window
The same card has an AI note freshness setting — 1, 2, 6, 12 or 24 hours, defaulting to 24. It controls which orders are offered a note.
Orders older than the window are not given a note automatically — but you can still press Generate it on them, and it will work. The window never blocks a note you asked for by hand.
You may also see an order arrive with no note even though it is within your window. That happens when the order reached us late — a delayed message from Shopify — because unattended generation keeps a much tighter internal limit than the one you set. Press Generate; that is what the button is for.
The dropdown stays editable while the master switch is off, so you can set your limit first and enable afterwards.
What it costs
Every plan includes a monthly allowance of AI credits: 500 on Essential, 1,000 on Growth, 2,000 on Automate and 5,000 on Enterprise. Features that do not use AI never consume credits.
