Choosing how you print
Three ways to get paper out of Wunder Delivery — your browser, PrintNode, or QZ Tray. What each one needs, what it costs, and which one suits your shop.
Wunder Delivery prints four things: dispatch sheets, gift message cards, envelopes and invoices. How they reach paper is your choice, and the right answer depends on how many printers you have and how much clicking you are willing to do.

Browser printing
The simplest option, and it is on every plan. Press Print and your browser’s print dialog opens, exactly as it would for any web page. You choose the printer and press Print again.
This is fine for a shop with one printer and a modest number of orders. It becomes tiring at volume, because there is a dialog for every document.
Browsers do not let a web page send a job straight to a printer — it would be a security problem if any website could. That is not a limitation of this app; it is why PrintNode and QZ Tray exist. Both work by running a small program on your computer that the browser is allowed to talk to.
PrintNode
PrintNode is a cloud printing service. You install its client on one computer, and from then on your printers are reachable from anywhere — including from our servers.
You need your own PrintNode subscription. It is billed by PrintNode, not by us, and it is not included in your Wunder Delivery plan.
Choose PrintNode if you want cards, envelopes and dispatch sheets going to different printers without a dialog each time, and you would rather not install software on every machine.
QZ Tray
QZ Tray is a free desktop program that lets the browser print directly to the printers on that same computer, with no cloud hop.
Choose QZ Tray if you want genuinely silent printing at no extra cost, and you are happy to install it on each computer that prints. It is also the only option that works with Auto Print.
Out of the box, QZ Tray asks permission for every print job. Turning that off requires a certificate, which we set up for your shop at no extra charge on Automate and Enterprise. Until it is in place you will see an Allow prompt each time.
The setting is per computer, not per shop
This surprises people, so it is worth stating plainly.
You set it in Settings → Print → General, and it applies only to that computer. The office PC can use PrintNode while the bench PC uses QZ Tray — that is a supported setup, not a mistake.
It works this way because QZ Tray is a program installed on one specific machine, so "use QZ Tray" is only ever a statement about a machine. The default on a fresh computer is PrintNode.
The practical consequence: if a colleague says printing behaves differently on their computer, check which engine that computer is set to before looking for anything else.
Which should you pick?
- One printer, a handful of orders a day — browser printing. Do not over-engineer it.
- Several printers, or enough volume that dialogs hurt — PrintNode, if you are on Growth or above and do not mind its subscription.
- You want silent printing without another bill, or you want orders to print themselves as they arrive — QZ Tray, on Automate or above.
You can change your mind at any time, and changing back restores the previous behaviour exactly.
