Editing your print templates
Change what appears on cards, envelopes, dispatch sheets and invoices — and understand whether your edits belong to the store or to one computer.
Every document Wunder Delivery prints comes from a template you can edit. Templates live in Settings → Print, with a tab for each document: Dispatch, Envelope, Card and Invoice.
Editing
The editor works like a small word processor. Type your text, format it, and use the insert variable picker to drop in values that come from the order.
Variables look like {{ customer.name }} and are replaced with the real value when the document prints.
Every variable on that page will print a value. There is no list of "not yet supported" tokens to trip over — anything you can copy from that page, you can use.
Store-wide or this computer only
Above each editor is a switch: Global or Local.
- Global — the template lives on your store record and every computer uses it. This is the default for a new computer, so a machine you set up tomorrow inherits your templates with no work.
- Local — the template lives in that one browser, on that one computer.
Computer A can be Local for the dispatch sheet while computer B is Global for the same document. The switch describes what this machine does, not what the store does.
When you print from Shopify's More actions menu rather than from inside Wunder Delivery, it runs in a sandbox with no access to browser storage — so it renders the Global copy no matter what this computer is set to. If a document looks right inside the app and wrong from Shopify's menu, this is why.
Local templates are plan-limited: Essential has none, Growth allows 3 computers, Automate 5, Enterprise 10. The counter is shown next to the switch. A computer already using Local templates keeps them even if you later exceed the allowance.
Clearing your browser data will look like losing your templates
This is the behaviour that catches people out most, so read it before it happens rather than after.
Your computer's identity as a print station is a hidden ID stored in your browser. Clearing site data deletes it, and the next time you open the app a new ID is created — so the app treats your machine as a computer it has never seen.
What you actually see: a duplicate computer appears in your list of print stations, every template tab comes back set to Global, and any Local templates and printer calibrations you had appear to be gone.
Nothing is deleted. Your old profile and its templates are still on our servers, attached to the old ID.
Getting them back
- Go to Settings → Print.
- Find the This computer card.
- Open the picker of existing stations and choose your old entry — the one with your computer’s real name. Stations holding templates are badged in the list.
- Adopt it.
Your computer takes the old identity back, along with its templates and their Global/Local settings.
Computer names are neither unique nor permanent — two machines can share one, and renaming a PC would otherwise lose its settings. So the app uses a hidden ID and treats the name as a label. The trade-off is exactly the behaviour above.
The same thing happens on a new computer, in a different browser, or in a private window — each is a fresh profile as far as the app is concerned.
Guides while you edit
The editors offer several aids that never print:
- Show margins — where the printable area ends
- Fold guide — on cards, where the fold falls
- Show element borders — on the dispatch sheet, outlines the underlying blocks so you can see the structure you are editing
Custom fonts
You can upload a font for your printed documents.
A font you upload is used by the app's own printing, but the unattended Auto Print application does not receive it. If a shop relies on both, expect the automatic output to use a fallback face.
Two things that will waste an afternoon
A printed sheet is not a browser window. Styling that only applies below a certain width will look right on your laptop and print wrong. If a template "looks right on screen but prints wrong", this is the usual cause.
Recent versions of Word for Windows default to "Merge Formatting" when pasting from another program, which silently removes fonts, sizes, colours and alignment from anything you paste — regardless of where it came from.
This cannot be fixed from our side. In Word, go to File → Options → Advanced → Pasting from other programs and set it to Keep Source Formatting. Or use the paste options button that appears after pasting and pick Keep Source Formatting.
Word for the web and Word for Mac are not affected. Google Docs, Notion and Outlook all paste correctly.
